Tires to be made with Sugar

The world one day hopes to see that all vehicles have tires made from sugar rather than petroleum and rubber.

The world spends a billion dollars on manufacturing tires with this non-renewable raw material. A lot of money will be saved if the raw material for making tires was sugar.

Tire companies like Goodyear and Michelin have teamed up with biotechnology firms to genetically engineer microbes that mimic rubber trees’ natural processes in order to make latex rubber from sugar.
